Wilma has always enjoyed “making” and creating, and from a young age, her Mom taught her to sew and quilt. She knitted, crocheted, made cards, quilted, sewed, stitched, and tried many different ‘crafts’ over the years and always enjoyed it. She joined the Canadian Embroiders Guild London – a Textile Arts Guild which introduced her to wonderful classes that expanded her horizons and inspired her creativity. She also joined the Stitch Club at TextileArtists.org during Covid and had the opportunity to view classes with many talented stitchers worldwide and learn a variety of new skills. She enjoys learning new strategies and techniques and is always game to try something else which is why she has not focused on one particular form of stitch, and you will see a variety of pieces. She has been fortunate to have one of her pieces chosen for the St. Mary’s Station Gallery “The Art of Textile” show and be a featured artist at the Parkhill Carnegie Gallery in 2019. Now that she has retired from a rewarding career as a teacher, she is excited to have more time to devote to her other passions!
