WHO ARE WE?

This guild of spinners and weavers was formed in 1993, dedicated to learning textile skills used by our ancestors, educating others and passing these skills on to following generations

We have been very active since then, demonstrating at fairs, visiting classrooms, holding workshops and encouraging others to get involved with the age-old skills of spinning, weaving, knitting, felt making and dyeing with natural and synthetic dyes, all with a great variety of natural fibres.

Spinning and weaving skills are put to the test when the guild stages a sheep-to-shawl event. A team of carders and spinners transforms a freshly shorn fleece into yarn to supply a weaver who creates, before your eyes, a lovely shawl, an heirloom to last for generations.

Members work as a group in strong support of the Women's Rural Resource Centre in Strathroy, providing handmade items as needed by the residents.

Our guild supports Wild Fibers in the creation of India's First Cashmere Craft Center with the women of Pangong in the heart of the high Himalayas. Visit the Cashmere Center web page.
