The Ailsa Craig Community Quilt Festival

A Legacy of Fibre Art

The Ailsa Craig Community Quilt Festival was unlike any other in the world. Historically, this week long event was a living testimony to the spirit of this small SW Ontario village as it was completely run by local volunteers. In 2011 we presented the incredible "Quilts of the Netherlands" followed in 2012 by the "Quilts of Denmark". 2013 saw the Festival host "Quilts of Israel", followed by "Quilts of Great Britain" (2014), "Quilts of France" (2015), "Quilts of Latvia" (2016), "Canada 150; A Celebration of Art Through Fibre" (2017) and "Quilts of Iceland; Land of Ice and Lights" (2018),  Quilts of Iceland, land of ice and lights (2019).

In 2020 we were to present Meet Spain, but the pandemic stopped the world in its tracks.  We never met Spain and in fact closed the  Quilt Festival for good.  However, the Ailsa Craig Community Quilt Festival lives on in spirit at the Ailsa Craig Arts Centre.
