Does your youngster love to explore ways to create and express themselves?

In this camp students will learn wonderful ways to decorate and create fabric and accessories. They will make unique and colourful beads of any shape and size and turn them into a fashion accessory. Another day will be devoted to learning the art of macrame and how to decorate your room with a macramé wall hanging. Master a few basic embroidery stitches and use them in endless ways to decorate fabric or embellish a clothing item such as a t shirt or a pair of jeans. Create batik designs on fabric by using dye and hot wax. Stencil, stamp and play creatively in printing with premade designs and letters. Work directly on clothing to give new life to faded favourites or create new fabrics. Transform your handcrafted fabrics into a bag, pillow, or something else that you dream up.

Each day, bring a lunch, drinks, and snacks. Prepare for the outdoors with a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, and a Frisbie. Be ready on day two to give new life to a faded favourite by bringing one or more garments that you would like to decorate and personalize (optional). On days 3 and 4 wear clothing that can be stained or bring a painting smock or apron.

Each day will feature structured learning and outdoor time (weather permitting). You will also have the opportunity to play with mixed media and explore your own inspirations to create something unique. We will visit a local park where you can run off some steam or work outside on some of the crafts. Each day includes casual teaching of additional methods based on interest. The possibilities are endless. Look forward to exploring possibilities and your imagination.

Camp is suitable for ages 9-15 years. The camp will be lead by Ms Doreen Kool; a retired secondary school art teacher for Thames Valley and a talented mixed media artist in her own right.

NOTE: ALL YOUTH THAT PARTICIPATE IN YACAC ARE MEMBERS OF THE ACAC.
