Beginner’s Course in Multi-Shaft Weaving

Please note this course was originally posted as a table runner but has been changed to a bread bag.

Overview.

During this three day, full day course, participants will learn the basic skills required for weaving by designing, measuring, dressing the loom and weaving on a four-shaft loom. Cotton yarn will be provided in an array of colours for you to choose from. At the end of the course, each participant will have created their very own bread bag; perfect for storing your artisan bread.  The final project will measure approx. 9 inches wide and 12 inches long and will be finished with a drawstring opening on one end. Each participant will be provided with a table loom for the duration of the course, plus a copy of the pattern and detailed instructions for the project.

Who is well suited for this course?

This is a beginners weaving course so no prior weaving experience is required. This will give you an opportunity to try multi shaft weaving before you decide if this is something you wish to pursue. However, it should be noted that weaving requires many repetitive hand and arm movements. If you have joint or back issues you may find this difficult.
