The ACAC is delighted to welcome Joan Brennan to teach the art of silk painting.  There are many applications for this art form that the student can explore be it framing, incorporating into clothing items or home decor items etc....

Students will leave this class understanding how to prepare the silk for painting with special silk dyes. How to apply gutta resist to create a design on the silk. How to use the silk dyes to add colour to the design and how to set the dyes using a clothes iron.  Directions for future care and cleaning of the silk item will also be given.

In addition to the cost of the program, students will pay a $35 kit fee directly to the teacher on the day of the class.

Students are to bring to class the following:

Lunch

Brushes - 4-5 synthetic brushes in small, medium, large

Paper and pencil to design your piece (erasable is better)

black marker

12" embroidery hoop

Hair blower if you have one.

About the artist: 

Joan is a London based artist that has worked in various disciplines and textile mediums for many years. A Co-Founder of the Textile Dyers and Printers Association, Joan's work has been featured in many shows and conferences since as early as 1977.
