Event Details
Students of this class are in for a real treat! In this workshop you will learn the basics of wet felting through the use of a seamless template, that will be provided, to create a seamless tea cosy. Additional instruction will be provided to teach students how to create a silk and merino wool prefelt. These patterned prefelts will be incorporated into the tea cosy surface design creating textures and enabling your own unique pattern. Along with learning how to prepare a wool layout, students will learn the correct felting and fulling techniques that are necessary to create a quality felt that will hold the 3D structure. The skills that the students will learn in this workshop are transferrable to making future felt projects like vessels, hats and handbags.
At the conclusion of the class, the student will have completed a merino and silk felted, three dimensional tea cosy just in time for Mother's Day! Additional decorative stitching and embellishments may be added after the class if so desired.
