RIverside Farm Photography Ramble with Bruce Laing

Join us on September 25th for a wonderful day at  Riverside Farm situated on the picturesque Ausable River.  Class will start at this heritage farm at 7:30 am to get the best light and will begin with coffee and a short introduction by Bruce. The morning will involve registrants shooting photos at the farm according to their interests. Photo opportunities include a  150 year old bank barn, horses, chickens, dogs, beautiful landscapes, farm machinery, gardens etc...

After lunch, the group will meet at the Ailsa Craig Arts Centre where Bruce will assist students in photo editing techniques, composition and finishing elements.  The day will proceed rain or shine so be prepared for the weather with hats, sun screen, bug repellant and solid, comfortable walking shoes.

Students should come prepared with their digital camera gear (or whatever camera system they use), a lap top for the afternoon session, a thumb drive, notebook, pen. Lunch can be purchased at the Crown & Turtle Pub in Ailsa Craig or bring your own.

Artist’s Statement

With my photography I bring the feeling of the moment to the viewer. This may be a beautiful place, a sporting event, a nature scene, birds, animals, people, buildings or just life as it happens. To bring the viewer into the moment, and sharing landscapes of awesome locations or close ups of life that are not often experienced, in a creative composition that enhances the experience is a goal of each image. Unique images are all around us, but most people are too busy to notice. Capturing and sharing these moments in time, to enhance the life experiences of others, is what drives my photographic vision. I enjoy beautiful vistas, but capturing things that move are my favourite subjects. Water, birds, wildlife and sporting events are some favourites. Beyond action ,it is about capturing the light. Night photography, cities or skies, is another passion that takes my creativity to another dimension.
