Saturday October 16, 2021 from 10am to 4pm

Cost is $40 for members with a $10 kit fee paid in class

            $50 for non members with a $10 kit fee paid in class

Class Description:

In this introductory class you will explore a variety of barks suitable to basket making that are growing right here in SW Ontario. You will learn how to sustainably harvest, store and work with this bark. You will weave your own basket out of wild willow bark using simple weaving techniques. A kit will be provided including sustainably harvested wild willow bark, pegs and waxed thread. The cost for the kit is an extra $10 payable to Theresa on the day of the class.  

What you need to bring: A pair of scissors A spray bottle for water An old tea towel or face towel to wrap wet willow bark in. (Will stain it)

About the Teacher:

Theresa English is a local treasure; a fibre artist who finds inspiration in the woods, riversides and wild places others overlook.  A patient and encouraging teacher, Theresa will inspire you to look at nature in new and thoughtful ways. Commencing September 7th - October 8th, you can view a body of her unique basketry work at The Ailsa Craig Arts Centre.
