Wednesday October 20, 2021; 1 - 4 pm.

This event will be held at Ye Old Town Hall so that we may safely space everyone.  It is on the second floor, but there is a lift for those who require it.

Start your earth-friendly journey and spend a couple of hours to make your own beeswax food wraps and reduce one-time plastic use!  Kick the single-use disposable habit with homemade beeswax wraps – a great alternative to plastic wrap. You can use them to cover food and keep it fresh; veggies, cheeses, sandwiches, baked goods and snacks. They’re reusable dozens and dozens of times and can easily be refreshed at home if the wax starts to wear.

Intended for anyone who wishes to embrace more positive ways to live on this earth, in this workshop you will design your own fabric to use in the making of your beeswax food wraps and beeswax snack bags. The conversation will flow as we discuss other habits to help increase our waste awareness. Take home your finished wraps at the end of the class and start putting them to use right away!

All Things Preserved is a zero waste lifestyle company based in Kitchener, Ontario. Susan, the owner and creator, offers reusable household products that are locally-made by a team of skilled sewists.  They work with only upcycled materials to avoid wasting natural resources in the production of new fabrics. She also runs in-person and virtual workshops, like D.I.Y. Beeswax Food Wraps, and speaks on a variety of sustainability topics including Fun with Food Preservation (Not Your Granny’s Canning!) and Ten Easy Steps to a Zero Waste Life.

Susan grew up with a geographer father and a suburban homesteader mother. Through travel they instilled in her a love for the environment and a belief that all aspects of it – physical, social, historical and natural – are interconnected and of equal importance. She and her siblings grew up learning vegetable gardening, canning, composting, sewing and maple syrup production – and there were always sprouts growing in a jar under the kitchen sink! Susan’s passion is to inspire people to find simple ways to be better stewards of the earth and it’s obvious where that came from.

All Things Preserved is celebrating four years of helping others make simple changes in their daily lives that lead to a cleaner planet. When it comes to helping people on their zero waste lifestyle journey, Susan’s motto is simply, “begin anywhere”.
