Instructor: ROSARIO CASANOVAS

Learn how to cut freehand smooth curves and sew them together by machine with no pinning or marking!

You will be doing exercises crossing the curved lines, even making lines with multiple fabrics. Explore the concept of line and shape and more.

There will be a fun exercise that can become a small contemporary wall hanging, or be incorporated into a bag.

No Kit Fee                    Sewing Machine Required

STUDENT SUPPLY LIST

  • Sewing machine with ¼” foot
  • Basic sewing supplies, pins, washable marking pencils, scissors, etc.
  • Rotary cutter, mat and ruler (medium or large size)
  • Sewing machine Needles, 70 or 80  (Microtex or universal)
  • Threads matching the colors and values of your fabrics, or in neutral colors .

FABRICS:

These exercises are best made with solid fabrics or solid batiks or hand dyes (they look more contemporary and can be used on both sides.

For the multiple exercises please bring at least 8 fat quarters of solid fabrics in the colors and values of your Choice. Bring  ½  to 1 yd  of a color that looks nice with all of them .

*The exercises could also be done in Black and White only, or two colors only,
in this case bring about a yard and a half of each.

For the wall hanging excrcise, you’ll need 2 rectangles of approx

22” x 25” (65 x 55 cms) each in a color you like, plus two more in another color for the background. Choose three colors that you like together a lot.

* This exercise can be done in a smaller or larger scale, if your mat is small bring rectangles /squares that fit in the mat.

Additional ironing surfaces and irons will be provided in class.
