Exploring free motion stitching, using a variety of materials and threads, you will create your own original artwork. Be inspired by your favourite terrain or a design you create from your own imagination.  The final piece can be a wall hanging, or a decoration applied to a bag or on clothing.

  • We will use all kinds of materials: various yarns, wool bat, threads, beads and more... whatever you would like to use in your creation.

Materials to bring:

Base: wool, silk, cotton or linen  cut to approcximately 35cm x 35cm (14 inches x 14 inches)

For creativity: Yarn, twist, rovings, wool bat, all kinds of threads, as well as beads and whatever small items or scraps that may be suitable for this work. You can use Alpaca wool bat as well as other types.  Water soluble stabilizer, in the same size as the base material.

Tools:

  • -          Sewing machine with the ability to free-motion stitch
  • -          Free motion/Darning foot
  • -          Basic sewing kit: scissors, pins and needles, etc. 

Dagbjört Guðmundsdóttir is the founder of the Icelandic Patchwork and Quilting Association 2000. She has been quilting since 1976. She studied artand art history at the University of  Reykjavik, and Ocupational Therapy  in Norway.
